Tomorrow is Not Promised is A poetic performance piece written by Tian Glasgow

Design by Jason Edmunds

Tian talking about making a show using 'magical realism'

A co-production between New Slang Productions, The Lowry and Sustained Theatre Up North. Tomorrow is not Promised is a new performance work about a Black British woman who finds herself homeless and alone after an earthquake.  She embarks on a courageous journey towards healing, through grief, loss and great change.

Tomorrow is not Promised follows our unnamed protagonist a Black British woman as she journeys through her innermost thoughts after a life changing event. The show depicts a magical realism space where the protagonist awakens to find her house destroyed leaving only her door which she can’t seem to leave behind. While deciding if to rebuild or to start again, she encounters Suzanne who has suffered her own loss. The two decide to try and help others in the hopes of healing themselves.

The show was debuted in Feb 2022 at the The Lowry. Then was staged in Underbelly Cowgate part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2023!

Since then the tour has taken the show to Streatham Space Project in London and the Oxford Playhouse.

The next tour date will be at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield!
